New for Quicker Prototyping

18 November ·   2011
Start here, build everywhere

Foundation is a free, easy-to-use, powerful, and flexible framework for building prototypes and production code on any kind of device.Foundation was created by ZURB, an interaction design and strategy company located in Campbell, California.

Positive: Rapid prototyping for desktop to mobile devices. A premiere framework that that will save time. Uses the 960-grid system. It's free (for now).

Negative: Less than ideal performance for mobile devices — hides elements via CSS and images are scaled down so you are still downloading the full size image on mobile devices. Backend solutions still required for better responsiveness. HTML5shiv script is meant for older browser compatibility but does not work for dynamically-loaded content, like AJAX.
